Saxophone

Music referred to as contemporary music - music that does not use the traditional language and structures of composition such as melody, harmony and tonality - is often considered harsh on the ear (Rhythm is however prominent as sound is very rarely not within a rhythmical dimension). Listening to contemporary music is therefore somewhat different to “traditional” or classical music.

Try to listen to the sounds and effects of those sounds within the atmosphere created by the music. Think of it as sound painting and try to listen to the music in the same spirit as one would listen to naturally occurring sounds such the flow of water, rustling of leaves, howling of the wind or more commonly, bird calls.

Just listen!
