Songwriting

A friend recently mentioned a notable artist to me.  Notable with regards to how prolific he was as a songwriter.  This artist wrote one song a day, everyday for a whole year.  At the end of the year he had, well, a bunch of mediocre unusable songs however, within all the muddle that was his daily train of consciousness put to song, there were some hidden gems.  One of those gems eventually landed him a record deal and now his career has taken off and this once amateur writer is somewhat of an industry talking point.

It just goes to show that while we are always striving to be 'the best', 'number one' or to write the next 'big hit' we may actually be holding ourselves back from our true potential.  What if we let go, chill out and just write?  We may be surprised with the outcome, get signed, become famous and shack up with Cherly Cole.  Maybe not.
