Songwriting

It's a fantastic skill to be able to write songs. Hardly anyone makes it in the business nowadays, but if you can write a song, it's a way of expressing yourself clearly and completely. Another bonus is that it's a fantastic string to your bow if you ever happen to be at a campfire with a guitar.

I teach things I consider to be fundamental to songwriting; structure, basic harmony, including the idea of suspensions (not completely conchordant chords which resolve, adding suspense and giving the music a sense of ebb and flow), and, if wanted, I will help with lyrics. The important thing to remember, though, is that you can't expect a number 1 with your first song; just have a go!
