The way I like to teach is a kind of teaching that puts the learner at the centre of his/her learning and that focuses on skills that promote independence in acquiring and using the target language.
To do this I provide an Initial Assessment for the student so I can have a clear idea on the starting point, to understand the student's weaknesses and strength in order to produce a Scheme of Work that I like, however, to negotiate with the student. This also allow me to adjust my teaching to different levels, from adult learning, to University level, to A Levels and for Entry, Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced or Conversation.
I feel it is important that a student is fully involved in planning the learning journey and that we can both select what his or her learning styles are (i.e. visual, audio, oral, kinaesthetic, etc), so that we can maximize the sessions time to more efficient learning.
I like to use a variety of resources , including text book, audio CD, DVDs, Internet and music and I believe that the target language has to be relevant specifically to the student.
