Learning to play the violin is not just about being able to read the notes and becoming technically proficient, it requires a good grounding in aural training and an understanding of the theory and history of the music.
No matter how old you are when you take up the violin, I believe that this training has to start at the beginning of your journey and I incorporate fun and informative ways of teaching all my pupils these things to make them more than a violinist but a well rounded musician who is able to listen and respond creatively to their playing and the playing of others around them.
By deciding to learn the violin you learn not only how to play fantastic music, but you also learn how to concentrate and focus, you meet new people through playing in ensembles and orchestras, you gain dexterity and co-ordination, you learn to become more organised and most of all you will gain enjoyment and satisfaction from it.
