Violin

I believe that starting to play an instrument in the right way from the start can make the player's life much easier in a long run.

There are many cases where a child is taught to play in a wrong way or where the teacher doesn't pay enough attention to the pupil's playing, and that can be very frustrating for someone who wants to progress well in their playing.

The right start is especially important in violin playing as this is not an easy task. In violin playing one needs to concentrate on two hands doing completely different things at once and on something that does not come naturally to the human body.

In order to be able to have a good sound, the bow must be held in the correct way. All the fingers on the bow hand must be in their own places and not tense up. Quite often I see people with a bad bow hold due to a bad start and their teacher not paying enough attention to it. This can also lead to serious injuries in the long term.
