I would prefer not to say ‘I teach my student', but rather ‘I work with my student.’ This is one of the things I learnt from my teacher: not to see the student as a student but to respect them as a person. If the student is serious about music, I believe I'll learn from the student as much as they learn from me. I feel that teamwork between the teacher and the student is the most important thing and I know students work hard when they like their teacher.
I would like to conclude with some words from the violinist Josef Suk, which helped me to keep going through my music study:
Be patient, work all the time and play well. He who serves art with humility, who is modest and at the same time has a little bit of healthy ambition and is not conceited, must eventually achieve success.
