Music is everywhere! In our homes, work, school, on TV, in cars, on the radio etc… Music is a part of our everyday lives and could you imagine how dull would our lives be if there was just silence??
I believe music is incredibly valuable to us in many ways, it can affect our moods and it can bring happiness, sadness, calm or excitement. It has been proved that children who are involved in extra curricular activities in school, particularly music can do better in exams and it helps them socially as well. By joining bands, choirs, orchestras and other ensembles you can meet people from all walks of life and make many friends for life. Playing an instrument gives a unique way in which to express yourself and it is really fun as well!
I believe that a great teacher can not only teach the notes of a piece of music but can work with the pupil to create magical and musical worlds and help their pupil learn technique and perform and bring out skills and characteristics that they never thought they had. This can increase not only their knowledge of music but also their confidence, their personal expectations, their work ethic and self discipline in a fun musical way!
Learning an instrument is a skill that can be developed and maintained for life and can create many opportunities or it can simply be a method of relaxation for someone who wants to learn something different for fun. Whatever the reason, learning an instrument can be invaluable skill to a person.
I have been so lucky to have had some of the best teachers in the country and as a result of this I have a strong passion and commitment to my students to teach in the same way I was taught and to offer a full musical experience in lessons through learning technique, repertoire, aural skills, musicality and rhythm with the aim of completing instrumental exams or performing for family and friends and most importantly for personal enjoyment.
