I've been there myself; a singing lesson can be nerve racking.
Singing is hard enough as it is without having someone on the other side of a piano telling you "not that way, this way, you are too nasal...”. Does that sound familiar? And of course you have to pay them at the end ;)
But as a teacher, I also find that the student attitude is very important.
Very little progress is made if the student doesn’t believe in the teacher, so the most important thing is FIND THE RIGHT TEACHER for you.
Once you have found the right one, don't be offended if the teacher tries to correct you and if they tell you what is right and wrong that needs a bit of fixing.
Most of my students are progressing quite well but I do find that the ones who don't question me much and trust what i say are improving faster than others.
Yes singing the same song over and over can be boring but endurance and hard work is what will make you a great singer!
The combination of encouraging yet strict teacher and humble and hard working student is the perfect match for success!
