I train my students in general musicianship skills: ear training, theory, sight- reading etc. In addition to this if students, students/ parents wish to take grades i often put students through the Jazz grade syllabus- some of which will be incorporated into lessons anyway. I have one student who when he came to me was primarily a clarinetist and had not played tenor sax before. After 4 months of jazz sax lessons he is now commiting John Coltrane and Warne Marsh solos to memory and improvising using the ideas of the solos we have studied together in the lessons!

Do you have a personal message for students?
I love music and this comes across in my teaching style- enthusiastic, passionate, patient, personal. I recognise that everyone has their own unique learning style and cater for this as much as possible. I am sure you will enjoy studying with me as i will enjoy teaching you!
