I love playing the cello and hope all my students will too! Music theory and history can also be fun to learn about and help you enjoy music more.
Which subject(s) do you teach?
I am happy to teach adults or children. I am primarily a classical cello teacher, but as a performer on baroque cello I have specialist knowledge of historical performance and would be very happy to teach any aspiring baroque cellists! I also have some knowledge of jazz and contemporary styles and will choose and adapt repertoire according to my pupils' needs: I can teach you how to learn traditional folk or jazz tunes by ear, improvise and play along with your favourite pop songs, as well as how to read notation and learn great pieces by a range of classical composers. I always include elements of singing, rhythm games and other fun activities designed to develop all round musicianship in my lessons. I can teach younger children in pairs if necessary and am experienced at coaching chamber groups. I can also teach theory, music history, and harmony and counterpoint. I can prepare pupils for Grade exams on Cello and in Music Theory. I am happy to consider teaching pupils with special needs subject to consultation.

Where do you teach?
I can teach at home in Bermondsey, and I may be willing to travel up to half an hour to a student's home - possibly further if teaching more than one student in the same location. Travelling to a student's house is always subject to the location being one I can reach easily on public transport within my existing schedule.
