Tell me about your qualifications.
I have a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing (equivalent to an MPhil in Literature) and a BA in English with teacher training (both completed in the U.S.A)
What kind of experience do you have?
I have taught at the University of East Anglia (p/t) since 2000, teaching creative writing and previously American literature. I also teach essay writing and supervise dissertations at Norwich University College of the Arts (I previously held a Course Leader role for an MA in writing & visual art practice called Writing the Visual). I currently teach on the Access to HE course for Norfolk County Council's Adult Education (I've also taught for the Continuing Education dept at UEA) and teach across the region, so I have worked with a range of students from teenagers to much more mature learners (I've had 2 students in their 80's). I also co-ordinated Summer Schools at NUCA for 7 years so have worked with year 10 and year 11 students (ages 14-16)
How much do you charge?
*first consultation lesson half price (upon request)
*discounts for group lessons
* travel fee for Cambridge = £13-15; travel for Gt Yarmouth & coastal towns = £10 travel fee for Ipswich = £10

Where do you teach?
I teach at home &/or at student homes, depending on the day and preferred arrangement of student.
I live about a 10 min bike ride and 15-20 min walk from Norwich rail station, and about 20 walk from city centre (St Stephens)
I am also happy to meet in the Norwich Millenium library for a lesson if student prefers
I am willing to travel to Cambridge, Ipswich, Gt Yarmouth and coastal towns with a rail station (all require extra fee towards travel costs)
When are you available?
Times and days variable, to be arranged with student: only Weds, Thurs, Fri Some weekends possible.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
I will teach ages 16-80!
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
A level, Access to HE, University BA
Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
Yes
and personal liability insurance
Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
Specific arrangements made with student. Normally a schedule is arranged with online tutorials and tasks set with deadlines.
I can do SKYPE tutorials.

Do you have a personal message for students?
I believe making the effort to learn combined with a belief in one's ability to improve is the key to successful learning. My job is to guide and encourage students in specific ways, being supportive but also providing honest feedback to enable the student to progress.
