- I am an honest and reliable tutor who focuses each lesson on individual needs. Tutoring is a customer orientated service. I like to identify the desired outcomes of the tuition sessions and work through so that we can achieve those outcomes. Depending on the individual this may mean starting by revising work that has been covered at school over a period of time but not understood or it could be regular support with work that is currently being covered. In my experience exam preparation and technique is of vital importance and I aim to teach students to maximise their individual grade potential through knowledge of the exam, it is important that a student is well prepared going into an examination.
I am both a qualified and experienced professional with access to a range of materials from past exam papers, revision guides for all exam boards (provided to customers at cost price) as well as my own revision guides/notes based upon my examination work. My aim is to provide the best possible service to my customers and as such your feedback is appreciated. I look forward to hearing from you. - Which subject(s) do you teach?
- GCSE and A level Economics. GCSE and A level Business. Key stage 2, 3 and foundation 4 maths.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
- I have a degree in Economics from Birmingham University 2.1 (Hons) and a PGCE in Economics and Business from Warwick University.
- What kind of experience do you have?
- I currently teach all the GCSE, AS and A2 Economics at my school as well as teaching A level Business. I work for three major exam boards, CIE international for GCSE and AS papers, (Econ) OCR AS and AQA for A2. In addition I have experience of tutoring all exam boards at both AS and A2 and have tutored first year undergraduates from the University of Aston. I have over ten years experience in teaching, and three years of experience working with examination boards.
- How much do you charge?
- My fees are variable depending on the subjects and levels required. The first introductory lesson is half price as customers need to have the confidence that I am able to deliver individual needs. If substantial travel is required a fee can be charged or I may request a lesson to be longer than the usual 1 hour. Discounts available for group lessons.
I also am available for tuition through email for exam scripts, offering accurate marking/grading, feedback and suggestions for improvement. Fees will be linked to levels required and how much feedback is required. For example the current market rate for A2 Economics is approx £5.50 per exam.
I also am available for essay advice etc and am willing to negotiate on an individual basis but I do not do students homework! - Where do you teach?
- I live in Sutton Coldfield in the West Midlands, I work in Walsall. I am quite flexible on travelling and can either tutor at home or at a students house. I am willing to travel up to 10 miles, but can make arrangements on an individual request basis.
If you live further or prefer me to mark essays/exam scripts then tutoring and support can be given via email. - When are you available?
- Evenings and weekends. In school holidays I can be more flexible.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
- Ages 14-18 for GCSE and A level.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
- I prepare students for GCSE's and A levels in the main, Economics and Business. I have also experience at tutoring first year under graduates. I have experience in preparing students in Key Stage 2 and 3 Maths
- Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
- I have and am happy to produce any evidence required during the first session.
- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
- Email. Skype. For further details see 'where do you teach' and 'How much do you charge'.
- Do you belong to any professional organisations?
- GTC-General Teaching Council
- Where and with whom did you train?
- Warwick University Economics and Business PGCE.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
- It is important realise that tutoring is a two way process. In my experience a tutee improves, on average, between one and two grades with one on one help. I have seen students go from an E to an A with the right support and motivation, your progress is in your own hands once the guidance is in place.
