Personal Message
I have a genuine belief that every child is unique and needs to be taught accordingly.
Which subject(s) do you teach?
Primary English, maths, science. I also have experience in proofreading academic essays. I also have many years experience teaching English one-to-one to adults where English is a second language.
Tell me about your qualifications.
I have a Montessori Diploma from the London Montessori Centre. I also have a BA Hons in Humanies with Literature [2:1] In addition, I hold the Specialist Teacher Asst. Award which is geared specifically at those who work with children in small groups or individually.
What kind of experience do you have?
I started off as a Montessori teacher in Saudi Arabia with children from 3 - 7. Later, when my own children were growing up, I worked for many years in learning support at an Essex primary school with children of all levels, in small groups or one-to-one. At this time I also helped run a private French Club in nine different primary schools, after school or in lunch-times. In addition, for about eighteen years I have worked privately as a home tutor in the UK and Abu Dhabi with children of all levels, backgrounds and cultures. For the past two years, I have been living and working in London. It has been very diverse and rewarding. I work with children of all levels and abilities, whether it be problems with dyslexia or working for 7 and 11+. I also have several years' experience teaching English one-to-one with foreign adults in the Middle East and London. A lot of this experience has been with Arabic ladies.
How much do you charge?
My flat fee is £22. I may have to charge a little extra if travel time is more than 20 minutes or if I need the tube/bus.
Where do you teach?
I can teach at my home or yours.
When are you available?
I am very flexible with days and times and am willing to do 'catch up' during school holidays which works very well. Weekends often work extremely well too for young children as they are not then tired after a day at school.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
Ages 5 - 12. Older if a child is Special Needs or working at an elementary level.
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
7+ and 11 + School entrance
Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
Yes.
Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
I can tutor online for adults who need help with proofreading.
