- Personal Message
- I am a professional piano tutor based in Urmston, Manchester, and I provide friendly and enjoyable music lessons for children or adults.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
- I teach classical piano and music theory.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
- I graduated with a BA (hons) in Music from Durham University. I have Grade 8 Piano, Grade 8 Bassoon, and an A level in Music.
- What kind of experience do you have?
- I am experienced in creating an enjoyable and motivating environment for children or adults to learn piano. I tailor lessons to suit individual learning goals, whether that is to progress through ABRSM graded exams, work toward GCSE or A level performance exams, or simply to play favourite music for fun. I currently teach at a range of levels from infant beginners to junior improvers and high school students aiming toward a further career in music.
In my lessons you can expect to develop your playing skill, gain a good understanding of music theory, prepare for exams, and learn about related topics such as playing to accompany others or composing your own music. - How much do you charge?
- I charge £12 for a half-hour lesson.
- Where do you teach?
- I teach from a friendly home setting in Urmston, Manchester (near to the Trafford Centre!). Comfortable nearby seating means that parents can see and hear children's lessons and remain in touch with their progress. I teach on a high quality Roland digital piano.
- When are you available?
- Monday - 9.30am - 7pm
Tuesday - 9.30am - 7pm
Wednesday: 9.30am - 7pm
Thursday: 9.30am - 7pm
Friday: 9.30am - 2pm - Which ages and levels do you teach?
- I teach all levels from beginner to ABRSM Grade 8. I teach adults and also children from age 5 plus. Children need some understanding of numbers and letters in order to get the most out of their lessons, and usually by age 5 they are old enough to start.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
- I prepare for ABRSM performance and theory grades up to Grade 8. I also teach towards London College of Music examinations upon request.
- Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
- Yes
- Do you belong to any professional organisations?
- I am a member of the Incorporated Society of Musicians
- Tell me about some of your current students.
- My current students are a mixture of children and adult learners. Most are working towards a graded examination, but some simply want to improve their leisure playing and often have in mind a particular piece they would like to be able to play better.
