- Which subject(s) do you teach?
- I teach cello up to Grade 8 standard. I also provide tuiton in theory up to grade 5 and piano.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
- I have an HNC in music teaching from Napier University in Edinburgh. I also have completed a foundation course in cello at Trinity College of Music in London and went on to complete a degree in cello at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama where I also studied piano as a second study. I have distinction Grade 8 ABRSM in both cello and piano. I am currently working towards performance diploma in piano ABRSM.
- What kind of experience do you have?
- I have taught group classes for East Lothian Council in Scotland. I also was a tutor for the cello section of a schools orchestra in Scotland for Fingers and Thumbs Music. I currently have students in Rhwbina, Lisvane, Canton and Penarth and also teach from home. I have so far had a 100% exam pass success for the ABRSM. I also work as a temporary classroom assistant so have experience with children of all ages. However, I welcome all ages and have experince teaching adults too!
- How much do you charge?
- I charge 20 pounds an hour, 15 for 45min or 10 for half an hr teaching from home. Teaching away from home there will be an additional cost of up to 3 pounds Depending on the distance I travel to help cover petrol.
- Where do you teach?
- I currently teach in Rhwbina, Lisvane, Penarth and Canton and teach from home.
- When are you available?
- I teach evenings during the week and Saturday mornings. If i get too full i may only be able to teach from home. I am able to teach through the school holdays on request.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
- I teach all ages and abilities on the cello up to grade 8 ABRSM. Theory/Piano, up to grade 5.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
- I prepare my students for ABRSM exams 1-8 and have had 100% pass success.
- Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
- I have a full CRB check
- Where and with whom did you train?
- I did my degree at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. I have trained with Raymond Dodd (retired professor of music at Aberdeen university) Niaomi Butterworth (TCM), Nickie Thomas both former students of William Pleeth (Jacquline du pre's teacher). At RWCMD i trained with Peter Esswood (head of strings), Penny Driver and Nick Gethin. I have also had lessons and masterclasses from a varity of visiting professors.
