About Max
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have a wealth of performance, television and recording experience. My performance highlights to date are the Barbican, the Queen Elizabeth Hall, Later...With Jools Holland (BBC), Ronnie Scott's and Pizza Express Dean Street. I have also performed at major festivals around the world including Montreal Jazz Festival, London Jazz Festival, Pure Grenada Festival, Elbjazz Festival (Hamburg) and Middelheim Festival (Belgium).
My recording career includes two albums with MOBO winning artist, Zara McFarlane as well as leading artists and bands, Partikel, Peter Edwards, Duncan Eagles, Sam Eagles and Leo Appleyard as well as releasing my own album, 'Orbital'.

I studied privately with Michael Janisch (Kenny Garrett, Joe Lovano) for a number of years and I have also studied with Peter Buckoke (Double Bass Professor at Royal College of Music) Jasper Høiby (Phronesis) and Steve Watts (Double Bass Professor at Trinity College of Music).

I believe everyone is individual and so my lessons are tailored to the needs of each student. I feel that lessons should be a relaxed and enjoyable process about making music!
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach double bass, bass guitar, music theory and musicianship. I specialise in Jazz but I am able to teach all genres.
- How much do you charge?
I charge £40 per hour and £25 for 30 minutes, but if a pupil pays for ten lessons upfront then I teach one for free.
- Where do you teach?
I teach out of my home in Waltham Cross.
- When are you available?
My schedule differs each week but I am generally free day times and early afternoons.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach all ages and levels from complete beginners to more advanced pupils looking to take their bass playing and/or musicianship further.
