Instrumental lessons with a fun and enthusiastic teacher.
Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach the Piano at all levels, from beginners to advanced, in a variety of styles including Classical, Romantic, Impressionist, 20th Century, Contemporary, Jazz, and Improvisation. I also teach the Drum Kit from beginners to advanced, in many styles including Rock, Jazz and Swing, Funk, Metal and more, as well as percussion such as Djembe, Bongos and Congas. I also teach Alto Saxophone from beginners to intermediate level.
Tell me about your qualifications.
I currently have an Upper Second Class BMus (Hons) degree in Music from the University of Huddersfield, and am I studying for a further Masters in Music. I have grade 8 in Piano and Drum Kit, and Grade 6 in Alto Saxophone.
What kind of experience do you have?
I have over five years teaching experience in private tutoring, as well as experience with large groups, in workshops and classrooms etc. My experiences also include those of a performing musician, in a variety of groups and solo work.
How much do you charge?
As standard I charge £26 per hour, or £13 per half an hour. However, home visits can be arranged with an additional cost to cover mileage.
Where do you teach?
I primarily teach at my house in a large room equipped with Yamaha piano, Korg keyboard, Drum kit, Bongos and Congas, PA System, and recording equipment. I do have transport however, so lessons can be arranged anywhere in Halifax, Huddersfield, Leeds etc. I also have access to rehearsal rooms in Lockwood, Huddersfield, and a piano shop in Elland, Halifax if an different location is necessary.
When are you available?
I as am a part-time student my schedule is usually quite flexible, I teach most evenings and weekends, and I am sure we can arrange an appropriate time.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach at all ages and levels. I do usually advise to begin these lessons no younger than 5 or 6, but have no problem with teaching younger. I am also happy to teach adult beginners, as well as advanced pianists looking to expand their knowledge
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I can prepare students for entry in ABRSM exams, as well as Rock School exams for Drum Kit students.

I do have an up-to-date CRB disclosure certificate
Do you belong to any professional organisations?
I am currently a member of the Incorporated Society of Musicians
Where and with whom did you train?
I began learning music at the age of 6, and have had piano lessons every week since. I have studied with Sally-Ann McLeod, of the RNCM, and I am currently studying with Dr Philip Thomas, Senior Lecturer of Music and Head of Performance and the University of Huddersfield.
