Professional teacher and musician, with 50 years experience.
Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach jazz saxophone, clarinet and flute, classical saxophone clarinet and flute. I also teach theory and improvisation.
Tell me about your qualifications.
I have a Certificate in Education, MA (mus) and BA (hons) in music.
What kind of experience do you have?
I have 50 years experience as both a teacher and professional musician. As a teacher I have taught in schools and colleges throughout West Sussex. Other teaching courses have included Wavendon all music and Jazz courses with Sir John Dankworth.
As a musician I have performed extensively on television and radio, and at jazz clubs and festivals nationwide. I was bandleader on the RMS Queen Elizabeth.
How much do you charge?
£30 per hour, or pro rata.
Where do you teach?
I teach from my home in Bognor Regis.
When are you available?
Monday - Friday, some weekends and evenings. Please contact me for further details.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
from 8 - 80!
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I can prepare students for all grades.
Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
I am currently retired from schools so don't have a current CRB certificate.
Do you belong to any professional organisations?
Musicians Union member.
Where and with whom did you train?
Certificate of Education from Southampton University, MA and BA (hons) from University of Chichester
Tell me about some of your current students.
I teach a range of ages and abilities from beginners upwards. My youngest student is 11, and my oldest is 76! I am currently preparing a student for grade VIII saxophone.
Do you have a personal message for students?
Learning music is a rewarding and exciting experience, but the onus is ultimately on the students to practice the knowledge passed on!
