Whether you have difficulty understanding the topics or want to improve your predicted grades - private tuition makes all the difference.
Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach Economics, Business Studies and Sociology at IGCSE, AS &A2 (AQA, Edexcel and OCR Boards) and at University Foundation Programme level. I can teach individual topics to ensure a full understanding of the topic (as in a school/college lesson) or how best to answer exam questions relating to the topic, depending upon the needs of the student.
Tell me about your qualifications.
In addition to my first degree, BA (Hons.) Sociology from Essex University I have post-graduate Business and Management Diplomas and Degrees including a MSc and MBA.
What kind of experience do you have?
In addition to tutoring students on an individual basis I have several years experience of classroom teaching mainly in the Independent School sector teaching at IGCSE, AS/A2 and Foundation levels. I have acted as tutor and adviser for students with their UCAS applications and also been an examiner for the Foundation University Entry Programme. I have written and presented academic papers at conferences and seminars and contributed to academic books/publications.
How much do you charge?
The first lesson includes a free half-hour assessment of the student's current ability and a discussion of their needs and objectives. My fees are well within the prevailing Cambridge rate, but I try to keep them affordable for students regardless of circumstances and self supporting/funding students may be eligible for a reduction to standard rates as may be the parents of students whose circumstances mean that they genuinely would have difficulty with the standard fee. One past exam paper question (optional homework) will be marked free of charge per lesson. For Sociology notes on topics will be provided free.
Travel within Cambridge city area is free but a charge is made for travelling to students homes outside this area.
Where do you teach?
I teach at my home in Cambridge or I can visit students at their homes. Travel within the Cambridge city area is free (subject to parking availability) but if further out a nominal charge will be made to cover petrol and travelling time.
When are you available?
Mutually convenient times are seldom a problem.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
16-19.
Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
Yes.
