- Personal Message
- Teaching singing for me is a very rewarding job. I teach a technique which can be applied to any style. I work on developing good breath control, resonance and quality of sound. I am also very happy to teach adult beginners who have a fear of singing. I start with simple exercises to warm up the voice, I give my students practise CDs to help build a strong confident sound. Learning a range of songs helps the student to contextulise the various techniques they are acquiring - the more we apply what we are learning the quicker we remember ,
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
- The subject I teach is singing, on a one-to-one basis, but I also coach small groups who want to prepare part-songs, madrigals etc.
- Tell me about your qualifications.

- What kind of experience do you have?
- I have been teaching singing for 25 years during which time I have given countless individual lessons, run workshops and coached groups.

- Where do you teach?
- I teach in Forest Hill, S. E. London, I do not travel to students' homes.
- When are you available?
- I am available everyday. As I teach adults I arrange lessons to suit them. I do not have the seasonal holidays eg school, but I do have general holidays.

- I only teach adults, from beginners (including those who do not read music) to the more advanced.

- If students wish I will prepare them for ABRSM exams.
- Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
- No, I only teach adults.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
- I would say to anyone who has longed to sing to "take the plunge and try it!!" It's so rewarding to achieve the sensation of singing with freedom and confidence - my present students comment on how easy and relaxing they find it is to sing, once they have got into the swing of regular lessons.

What we see is what we hear!
What we see is what we hear, but how do we create the sound we want to be heard? It is important to see the voice as being like any other instrument, but with one very important difference: it’s ‘alive’ and responds to both environmental conditions such as pollution and to emotional situations such as stress or anger.
