Personal Message

I have been teaching violin for over 14 years and have entered pupils in ABRSM exams and music festivals. I have also prepared pupils for GCSE and A Level practical exams.

Interview

Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach Classical Violin.

Tell me about your qualifications.
Bmus and Mmus from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

What kind of experience do you have?
I have 14 years teaching experience including teaching for Southwark Council and Arts Educational School in Chiswick. I also play regularly with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Concert Orchestra and City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.

During my time as the sole violin teacher for Charles Edward Brookes School I prepared the string orchestra and taught all the violins (about 35 at any one time). During this period we organised a concert for the Lambeth Council and other fund providers and we were successful in gaining the necessary funds to gain the status of 'specialising in the arts' for the school from Lambeth Council. I also prepared the pupils for GCSE practical exams, solo concerts and assemblies.

I also have success in my private teaching where I have prepared a pupil to play solo as part of his role as 'The Handsome Prince' in a three month (eight shows a week) run of Cinderella, in London's West End.

I also teach violin to an adult who is very active in the amateur and semi-professional music scene, playing with such artist as Sarah Chang and Colin Davis.

How much do you charge?
£30 per hour.

Where do you teach?
I can teach at home or can travel.

When are you available?
7 days a week.

Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach all ages and beginners to advanced students.

Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
Yes.

Do you belong to any professional organisations?
Musicians Union.

Where and with whom did you train?
I studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and Conservatorium van Amsterdam. Teacher were Simon Fischer and Ilya Grubert.

Tell me about some of your current students.
I currently have a wide range of students from beginners (both children and adults) to advanced students who play in many concerts and amateur orchestras.
