- Personal Message
- I am a guitarist, composer and peripatetic tutor. I teach students of all ages and levels, in and around South East London.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
- I teach all styles of the guitar such as Classical, Jazz, Rock, Pop, Blues and Folk.
I also teach music theory and composition. - Tell me about your qualifications.
- BMus (Honours) Music 2:1 degree from Goldsmiths College, University
of London. Grade 8 Guitar (Trinity Guildhall). - What kind of experience do you have?
- I have been a peripatetic guitar tutor for 3 years. I have experience teaching pupils of all ages and levels. I have also worked for the music education charity Music for Youth. Whilst working for MFY I learned a lot about many of the new and exciting things that are going on in music education today, and this has greatly informed my teaching practice.
- How much do you charge?
- I charge £25 for a 60 minute lesson, or £15 for 30 minutes. I am happy to travel without extra charge, within reason. Please enquire.
My fees for group lessons are as follows:
2 students: £33 for 60 min, £20 for 30 min
3 - 4 students: £37.50 for 60 min, £22.50 for 30 min
5 - 6 students: £50 for 60 min, £30 for 30 min - Where do you teach?
- I am happy to travel to teach at the student’s home. I currently travel to pupils in New Cross, Brockley, Greenwich, Blackheath, and other areas of South East London. I am willing to travel further if it fits in with my schedule - please enquire.
- When are you available?
- I currently have slots on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Please enquire for availability.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
- I teach all ages and all levels, from absolute beginners to advanced students.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
- I prepare my students for ABRSM, Trinity Guildhall and RockSchool exams. However, exams are not for everyone and I think that it is perfectly possible to gain a great musical education without taking examinations.
- Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
- Yes.
- Where and with whom did you train?
- At Goldsmiths College I studied performance with Alexander Ivashkin, Steven Cottrell and Robin Michael. I studied composition with Dmitri Smirnov and Roger Redgate.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
- There are many different reasons that people choose to pick up the guitar, and different things that each person will want from a musical education. I am happy to tailor my lessons to the student's needs. Whether a student wants to learn to play a few songs by their favourite band, learn to play classical guitar, or aspire to compose music with the guitar, I place great importance on helping the student take the most enjoyment from learning to play their instrument. Please get in touch to discuss the possibility of arranging a lesson for you or your child.
