- Personal Message
- I am a personable and down-to-earth tutor who aims to demystify English while still showing you its potential as an exciting and invigorating subject.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
- I teach English. I can also give some advice on other humanities subjects such as history, sociology, politics, etc.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
- I have a Bachelor's in English Language and Literature from University College London, whose English department is ranked first in the UK. I am also doing a Master's in Shakespeare in History at the same institution.
- What kind of experience do you have?
- I have been tutoring for a mere two years, but two years in which I have learnt an enormous amount about the challenges students face, such as personal confidence and essay structure.
- How much do you charge?
- My rate is £36 for A-level.
If you live more than 5 miles from the postcode N20, as calculated by Google Maps, then I will charge £2 extra per lesson. I also charge £2 extra per lesson during peak time of the 1st May to the 15th June.
The first lesson is non-committal; if you do not wish to continue with tuition, you do not have to pay that lesson's fee. I advertise myself best in person! - Where do you teach?
- I teach at clients' houses. I am based in Whetstone, and am willing to travel up to ten miles depending on likely traffic conditions.
- When are you available?
- I am generally not available on Tuesday afternoons, Wednesday or Thursday mornings, or Saturdays. I am flexible and can always find a good slot for you.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
- I teach age fourteen and up.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
- A-level and undergraduate are my main areas - but you can enquire for other qualifications.
- Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
- I have a clean Enhanced Disclosure CRB check.
- Tell me about some of your current students.
- I have a variety of students from all cultural backgrounds and abilities.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
- English is all about saying clever things to the examiner, and to an extent, you have to play the game - which I will show you in ample detail. Yet, you mustn't lose the passion for good argument and getting your point across - I always emphasise healthy discussion and a good dose of humour in my lessons, and encourage you to think about your world. I look forward to meeting you!
