Batchelor of Science. - What kind of experience do you have?
- I have been a teacher for 30 years, 15 years in Comprensive Schools and 15 years as a home tutor.
- How much do you charge?
- Free initial consultation and a free trial lesson will be given, without any obligation. £26 per hour with no charge for travel up to 10 miles. 30 minute lessons are available at £13. Discounts are made for more than one student or subject. A reduction in cost can be made for those undergoing financial hardship.
- Where do you teach?
- I teach at the students' homes. I live in Emsworth, Hampshire, and near to the West Sussex border. I am 2 miles from Havant, 5 miles from Hayling Island, 7 miles from Waterlooville. 8 miles from Portsmouth and 8 miles from Chichester. I am willing to travel up to 10 miles to students' homes but more by arrangement.
- When are you available?
- I am available Monday to Friday and Saturday mornings. I normally teach from 3pm until 7pm on weekdays and from 9am until noon on Saturdays.Lessons can also be given during school holidays.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
- I teach 7yr olds up to any age. I teach Key Stages 2 and 3, GCSE, BTec and A level. Normally ages taught are 7 to 18yr olds.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
- GCSE, BTec and A level.
- Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
- Yes, I have a recent CRB certificate.
- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
- Online tutoring is available but 'face to face' tutoring is preferred.
- Do you belong to any professional organisations?
- No.
- Where and with whom did you train?
- Birmingham University.
- Tell me about some of your current students.
- At present I am taking two 10yr olds for Literacy, two 10yr olds for Maths and a 15yr old for GCSE BIology, Chemistry and Physics. They are all making good progress. My Year 11 GCSE pupils all did very well in the Summer of 2011. One obtained an A grade in Maths, another gained an A in Science and an A* in Additional Science. The third obtained two B's in Double Science.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
- My aim is for you to enjoy your lessons, increase your confidence and therefore improve your results. Help with those difficult areas now, will enable you to get those grades you need so that you have a much better chance of following a rewarding career.
