Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach all styles and aspects of Guitar playing. Jazz, Classical, Rock, Blues, Funk. I teach improvisation, technique, theory, and sight - reading.
Tell me about your qualifications.
I have a BA(hons) degree in music as well as Trinity Guildhall grade 8 (plectrum guitar) and ABRSM grade 8 (classical guitar).
What kind of experience do you have?
I have over 10 years experience teaching in schools and colleges in West Sussex and Surrey, and am currently guitar tutor and associate lecturer at Chichester University. As a performer I have worked extensively throughout the UK, at festivals, concerts and clubs.
How much do you charge?
£30 per hour, £15 for 30 minute lessons.
Where do you teach?
I mostly teach from my home in Barnham, West Sussex, but travel can be arranged in some cases.
When are you available?
Most weekdays, some weekends, please contact me for full details.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
I currently teach ages ranging from 5 - 70!
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I can prepare students for Trinity Guildhall Rock School grades or classical guitar grades if required.
Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
Yes.
Do you belong to any professional organisations?
Musicians Union member.
Where and with whom did you train?
Dr John Dack, Guildhall School of Music, and at the University Of Chichester. I have attended masterclasses with Graham Devine and Mark Ashford.
Tell me about some of your current students.
I have several students currently taking Trinity Rock School, plectrum guitar and classical guitar exams, as well as GCSE and A Level music. I also teach Jazz improvisation at degree level.
Do you have a personal message for students?
Learning music should be fun! My experience in over 10 years of teaching has shown me that everybody learns differently, and I aim to balance my lessons to suit individual needs.
