Ethnomusicology - Tell me about your qualifications.
- Having pursued both piano and trumpet through ABRSM to Grade 8, I studied composition, orchestration, Keyboard Skills and Theory during my BMus (Hons) at Edinburgh. I completed my Master's degree at Royal Holloway in Ethnomusicology, specialising in Latin Piano improvisation, and now work on BBC Radio 3's classical music output.
- What kind of experience do you have?
- I have over 10 years experience teaching both groups and individuals.
- How much do you charge?
- £25 per hour
£15 per half-hour - Where do you teach?
- I travel to students homes within Zones 1 & 2. In some cases pupils prefer to come to my place, which is also fine by me.
- When are you available?
- I tutor mostly evenings during the week, and daytime at weekends.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
- I have experience in teaching from 11yrs. through to adults of all ages
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
- I have experience preparing students for ABRSM examinations through to Grade 8 (piano) and Grade 5 (music theory), as well as less conventional routes of musical development for pupils with alternative learning objectives.
Academically, my tutoring helps students prepare for GCSE and A-level Music & Music technology examinations, and I am able to guide pupils through and help them prepare for university entrance examinations. - Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?

- I have had pupils from a range of backgrounds with different learning needs. A common feature amongst my students is their enthusiasm to learn about music.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
- My aim has always been to provide an enjoyable, engaging and high standard of teaching, and to provide pupils with a solid musical background and sound performance skills to enable them to confidently face any level of examination successfully.
