- Which subject(s) do you teach?
- I assist students to progress their architectural design studio projects by:
*tutoring them on how to interpret the brief and understand the project requirements
*encouraging them in their search for design concepts
*by mentoring and constructive criticism of their developing designs
*by making students aware of the regulatory and technical environment of the project
*by commenting on project presentation
*by reviewing their argumentation prior to their project crit.
I also assist students to progress written submissions by:
*reviewing their proposed their proposed structure and argumentation
*by assisting students who's first language is not English to express their ideas in written form
*by editing their written text. - Tell me about your qualifications.
- I completed a five-year full time course at the Northern Polytechnic London, now London Metropolitan University North Campus and was awarded the Northern Polytechnic Diploma in Architecture. Following three years research into computer applications in architecture I obtained a Swedish Licentiate of Engineering (TeknL ) degree at the Faculty of Engineering, Lund University, the nearest UK equivalent is a Masters Degree in Architecture by Research.
I have also studied for the RTPI Joint Distance Diploma in Planning Studies and have university level credits in Business Studies together with several vocational certificates in AutoCad. - What kind of experience do you have?
- *In depth experience of the construction industry in both designer and contractor roles
*Experience as a leader or coordinator of large design teams
*Experience of working as an architect in several countries
*Experience of tutoring architectural students for RIBA Part 3 examinations
*Experience of writing and editing texts on construction related subjects
*Currently mentoring the work of volunteer design teams on projects in Africa and India for Architecture for Humanity UK. - How much do you charge?
- I will visit you and review your project work, dissertation, case study etc for an hour without charge.
I charge £30 per hour and I usually teach in two-hour blocks. - Where do you teach?
- I teach in any suitable location, for example at your home, in cafe's such as Patisserie Valerie at the RIBA, Starbucks, the British Library cafe, the Royal Festival Hall etc. You may also visit me in Hitchin.
- When are you available?
- I am normally available during the day after 10.30 and in the early evening on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Other days and times by special arrangement. I will be not be available in June, July and August 2012.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
- University level students and mature students
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
- BA, BSc (Hons)Architecture, Diploma in Architecture, RIBA Part 3 Examination, degrees in Architectural Studies, Architectural Technology etc.
- Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
- I do not require a CRB certificate as I do not tutor children or vulnerable adults.
- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
- Video conferencing and desktop sharing on Skype, or other software tools if requested. I am particularly interested in tutoring students in other countries using these tools.
- Do you belong to any professional organisations?
- I am a member of the Royal Institute of British Architects and I am ARB registered. I have previously been a member of Svenska Arkitekters Riksforbund.
I am currently a Trustee of Architecture for Humanity UK - Where and with whom did you train?
- My initial training was at what is now London Metropolitan University under a traditional studio system. Subsequently I spent three years as a personal research assistant to Professor Hans Asplund at Lund University. I can thus claim lineage back to Gunnar Asplund, one of the greats of the Modern Movement .

- I have tutored students from the Oxford Brookes and Bartlett Schools.
