About Emma
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have over 15 years experience delivering drama and theatre educational programmes to young people, ranging from 4-18 years old.
As part of this, I have delivered extensive schools based projects across London with theatre companies such as The Unicorn Theatre, The Old Vic, The Roundhouse and The Arts Council. These have involved working with KS1 and KS2 students.
I have also directed large scale professional productions, often involving young people. The Happiness Project was a piece I co-directed and conceived which involved five scientists and 12 young people performing together at a sold out run at the Edinburgh Festival and the Roundhouse, London.
I deliver CPD training sessions for teachers in using drama approaches in the classroom. I also write extensive teacher packs encouraging participatory drama methods to be used within school settings.
With this experience, I have developed a strong methodology in terms of engaging young people in experiential learning experiences which was further enhanced by gaining a Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector.
I am also a children's author, working with my agent on my first middle grade book The Wing Giver and a picture book.

I charge £30 p/h. If extensive travel is involved, travel costs may apply.

I am flexible with location. I live in Sydenham where I teach from, alternatively, I am more than happy to travel all over South London and more centrally - wherever is convenient for you.

I am flexible with times and days - weekends, weekdays and evenings are all available and I'm happy to chat through different options.

- Do you have a personal message for students?
I spent a lot of time at school thinking everyone else had a secret tool to understanding which I didn't have. That can be quite a lonely feeling! I realise now that everyone has their own way of processing information and that often the pressures of the classroom mean that not every student can have the one-on-one support they need. The classes and teachers I remember best filled their lessons with stories and enthusiasm and that is how I think every student learns best. I want to help you find the joy within your studies so that you not only excel in the classroom but you also continue to be excited by the subject far into the future too.
