About Emily
- What kind of experience do you have?
I am a qualified primary teacher specialising in key Stage 1 and Early Years. I have a PhD in Special Educational Needs and experience in working with children and young people with dyslexia , dyspraxia autism and ADHD. I also teach Social Science and academic writing at university and I am an Associate Lecturer with the Open University.

I am a Primary teacher who has a PhD in Special Educational Needs. I have also taught academic writing and study skills at university. I have a positive approach and believe everyone can learn.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach English and Maths for Early Years Key Stage 1 and 2. I can provide special tuition for pupils with SEN in particular, dyslexia, dyspraxia and ADHD. I also teach essay writing and study skills up to university level and can provide support for students who have learning difficulties such as dyslexia or for whom English is a second language. I have a lot of experience in helping students with their dissertations.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I have a BA Hons (1st) Applied Social Science - Children and Young People, Masters and PhD from the University of York. My PhD was on inclusion for young people with special needs. I have a Primary PGCE and I am an Associate of the Higher Education Academy so I am qualified to teach at university as well.
- How much do you charge?
I charge between £25 -30 per hour . I would negotiate a discount for group lessons.
- Where do you teach?
I teach at my home in Canley, Coventry. I can also do online tutorials.
- When are you available?
I am available weekdays and evenings with some Saturdays.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I have experience of teaching a wide range of ages and levels from 4 year olds to mature university students. I personalise my tuition to meet the needs of my students. With younger students I believe in keeping it as interactive as possible.
