Personal Message
I am third year Politics and History SOAS student from Paris, France. I have decided to start tutoring to share with students my passion for languages!
Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach French and Latin. I also offer proofreading.
Tell me about your qualifications.
I have the French equivalent to GSCEs, as well as the French Baccalaureate. I passed both with first class honors.
What kind of experience do you have?
I used to tutor younger people in middle and secondary school in Paris. But most of all, I am a native French speaker. I also studied Latin for 6 years in Paris.
How much do you charge?
I charge 20 pounds for a GCSE tutoring lesson, 25 pounds for A-level and University students and 10 pounds for proofreading sessions. I am willing to charge less if the lesson lasts for more than an hour.
Where do you teach?
I teach either at the student's home or in any public library in central London, or at my university, SOAS, which is at Russell Square station.
When are you available?
I am available all week, except for Thursdays and Saturdays. I will be going back to Paris frequently during the year but I will always make arrangements so that the student gets his or her lesson.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach all ages from 11-12 until students in their 20s. Age does not really matter as much as the level of the student. I teach French at all levels starting from GCSEs to Undergraduate, Latin for GCSEs. Proofreading is mainly for University students, but I will work with A-level students if they ask me to.
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I prepare my student for French and Latin GCSEs, A-level French, BA French.
Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
I do not have such a document at the moment but can require it from the Paris Police Prefecture if asked to.
Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
Online tutoring can be either conversation French through Skype, essay proofreading or correction of any written homework the student is asked to do. Any of these will of course have the aim of not only correcting the student but also helping him or her to improve on the mistakes made.
Do you have a personal message for students?
French or Latin can seem hard to learn but with a little bit of method (and of patience) and a good student-teacher relationship, you will not only improve the language, but you will also come to love learning it!
