- Personal Message
- Maths graduate with 8 years tutoring experience. I have taught in different countries with a broad range of students both as an assault on the syllabus and as an ability/confidence building exercise.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
- Mathematics at all levels up to undergraduate.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
- I attained batchelor's degree in Mathematics from the University of Nottingham in 2006. I studied a broad spectrum of material from applied areas such as Newtonian and Lagrangian Mechanics to purer disciplines such as Game Theory and Topology. As part of my current job at Imperial College I teach remedial calculus and algebra to Geology and Engineering undergraduates at Imperial College London.
- What kind of experience do you have?
- I tutored GCSE and A-Level students throughout my time at university and have worked with numerous students at various levels since - totalling 8 years of tutoring experience. I am more than happy to pass on references for this work. I have also worked for a private tutoring website providing consultancy on syllabuses from KS3 through to A2.
- How much do you charge?
- Tutorials are £30 per hour for all levels inclusive of travel.
An additional charge of £10 per person will be made for group tutorials so the cost of a tutorial for 2 people would be £40.
For every succesful referral you make of my work to a friend you will be entitled to 1 tutorial free of charge. - Where do you teach?
- I am most interested in taking on students that live within an easy commute of Clapham or South Kensington/Victoria but would consider work in other areas of London.
- When are you available?
- I have a flexible schedule and other tutees so I will need to discuss this with you.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
- I teach all levels up to undergraduate with a focus on GCSE and A-level students.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
- SATS, GCSE, AS, A2, undergraduate level: vector calculus, differential calculus, set theory, group theory, metric (and topological) spaces, linear algebra.
- Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
- Yes I have an enhanced CRB Certificate. Disclosure number 001265581259.
- Tell me about some of your current students.
- I am currently working with students of various abilities, ranging from mathematically able Geology undergraduates to younger students with mild special needs (dyspraxia and asperges syndrome). I consider that the experience of teaching such a range of students has improved the effectiviness of my work as it has been more of a fundamental skills development and confidence building exercise than an exam focused assault on a syllabus.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
- I am passionate about maths! Sad I know but you get the benefit of someone who is keen to teach the subject and has the patience and understanding required to do so. Also, I have been through GCSEs, A-levels and my degree course in the (relatively) recent past so am aware of the challenges the current syllabuses present and common problems for students from both personal experience and my tutoring. In my current job I demonstrate for undergraduate Mathematics workshops at Imperial College London.

Maths Degree Interview Questions
A couple of interesting problems that require little or no formal training in Mathematics. These are the sought of questions you may be asked at the interview stage of your university application where candidates will be at different stages of different syllabuses and the interviewer wants to know what level of analytical reasoning the...
The Value of a Tutor
Nobody is born with an encyclopaedic knowledge of how to solve maths problems. Of course, a student who is comfortable with analytical reasoning and arithmetic has a headstart on others but an efficient learning method is equally important in building your understanding. The value of a tutor is that through practice questions they should be...
