- Hello! I'm a very experienced professional pianist and teacher of piano. My approach is always friendly and supportive, and I teach all ages and levels from beginners to advanced piano students.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
- I teach Classical piano.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
- Master of Music (Piano Performance), Manhattan School of Music, New York (1987); Certificate of Advanced Musical Studies (Piano Performance), ARCM Diploma (Piano Teaching), GRSM (Hons) Degree, Royal College of Music, London.
- What kind of experience do you have?
- I started teaching in my student days in the 1970s. I taught piano at The Purcell School, St. Paul's Girls' School and Centre for Young Musicians in London during the 1990's then took up the appointment as Head of Keyboard at the South African College of Music, University of Cape Town (1997 - 2008). I have recently been appointed to the piano staff of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, and I teach privately at my studio in Southfields. I am also on the staff of the London Piano School.
- How much do you charge?
- £50 per hour. I can arrange to teach at studios in the West End of London, which will incur an additional £10 charge.
- Where do you teach?
- From my private home studio in Southfields, London SW18. Also from Jaques Samuels Pianos, Edgware Road.
- When are you available?
- Available week days and evenings and Saturdays.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
- All ages from 6 onwards. My regular work involves taking students through graded exams and diplomas, but I also enjoy working with adults who want to return to the piano and/or to use the piano as a vehicle for musical appreciation.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
- All graded examinations and diplomas.
- Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?

- Where and with whom did you train?
- My teachers have included Stephen Savage, Peter Wallfisch and Roger Vignoles (RCM); Ann Schein (Peabody Conservatory); Nina Svetlanova (Manhattan School of Music). I have had regular masterclasses with Andras Schiff and Leon Fleisher. In the 1990s I did some special studies with Peter Feuchtwanger and Edith Picht-Axenfeld.
- Tell me about some of your current students.
- Among my students now active in the profession are Daniel Grimwood, James Baillieu, Gemma Webster, Kathleen Tagg and Berta Brozgul.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
- I have been passionate about the piano, its repertoire and teaching it since as far back as I can remember. I STILL AM!
