- I can teach all ages and levels on clarinet, as well as Grade 5 theory. I teach in a relaxed and calm manner, but can push the student if required. After many years of professional playing and teaching experience, I can tailor the lesson to the needs of the student.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
- I teach Clarinet as well as Grade 5 Theory.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
- I studied at Hull University then the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama where I completed a BMus (1st class) then a Postgraduate Diploma (Distinction) on clarinet. I have two Performing Diplomas, ATCL and Dip ABRSM.
- What kind of experience do you have?
- I have played professionally for several years after graduation, including working with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Welsh National Opera and the Royal Philarmonic Concert Orchestra. I have experience of playing in all the major concert halls in England and Wales, performing orchestral, chamber, contemporary and opera programmes.
I taught at Junior and Senior levels at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama on clarinet as well as lecturing Aural training and other academic lectures. I have taught in several independent schools in Bristol, Monmouth and Chepstow before moving to London in 2008, where I am teaching privately. - How much do you charge?
- £30.00 for 60 mins, £20.00 for 40 mins and £15.00 for 30 mins An extra £5.00 may be charged for travel depending if it takes more than 20 mins to travel to your home.
- Where do you teach?
- I don't have a base to teach from, so I will travel to you. I can travel to surrounding towns such as Uxbridge, Cowley, Ruislip, Ickenham, Hillingdon, Hayes, Northwood, etc
- When are you available?
- My times are flexible, around my playing job which is based in Ruislip. I can therefore work around you, although I need to be flexible also!
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
- All ages, from beginner to various (to Conservatoire level), and Grade 5 Theory
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
- ABRSM and Trinity exams and ABRSM Theory
- Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
- Yes.

I recommend The Cambridge Companion to the Clarinet edited by Colin Lawson (London College of Music, Thames Valley University). It includes a guide to the history, technique and repertoire of the clarinet, advice on teaching and includes other reference material.
