- I am a friendly and approachable maths tutor based in St Andrews. I am patient and understanding and love to work with my students to help them get the results they deserve.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
- I teach Maths from ages 7 up to University level, including adult learning.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
- I have a PhD and a first class MSci degree in Maths from the University of St Andrews.
- What kind of experience do you have?
- I have been teaching maths for 4 years at a wide range of levels, from lecturing big classes to one-on-one mentoring. I was a lecturer in maths at the University of Dundee and I teach school age students for their exams or just to improve their maths. I tutor a wide range of subjects at University level and also teach primary school children and adults.
- How much do you charge?
- My first class is a free taster session. After that I charge £30 per hour for home visits within 10 miles of St Andrews or in Dundee. For further distances I charge an extra £10 per 10 miles. Lessons at my home are charged at £25 per hour.
- Where do you teach?
- I am happy to travel to Dundee and anywhere in Fife including Cupar, Balmullo, Kirkcaldy, Leven, Anstruther, Glenrothes, Newport and Tayport. I will also travel to Angus and Perthshire, for a higher fee. If preferred, I am happy for students to come to my home in St Andrews.
- When are you available?
- I am available most days and evenings, both during the week and at weekends. Contact me for availability.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
- I teach from age 7 up to University level, including adult learners.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
- Standard Grade, GCSE, Higher, IB, University examinations.
- Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
- Yes.
- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
- I use Skype with a webcam.

- Some of my students have started off convinced they are no good at maths and ended up top of the class!
- Do you have a personal message for students?
- I believe that everyone can understand maths if it is shown to them in the right way. My classes are a two-way process where we both listen and talk to each other. Together we will work out the path that is best for you and I will adapt my teaching style accordingly.
