Studying with Hans has made a huge difference to my abilities as a guitarist. His guidance on improving my left and right-hand technique has enabled me to get better tone and control. He has also helped me to develop individual interpretations of repertoire pieces: essential for grade exams. I would recommend lessons with Hans to any guitarist who is serious about improving.
This excellent musician has a natural ability to teach with patience and great humour. Being well beyond maturity I did not expect to progress like this. While demanding that it's done properly he is gently supportive with hints and techniques and encouragement. I look forward to our weekly sessions.
Hans has helped smooth out some of the flaws in my hand actions, taught me to read sheet music and introduced me to a fantastic range of classical music. The emphasis of the lessons has been equally focused between my technique and playing music that I'm interested in learning. Most invaluably though I have learnt the importance of expression and intonation in producing quality sounding music.
Hans has inspired and guided me to achieve a grade 8 distinction and beyond in my guitar playing. His vast knowledge of guitar music styles with his technical expertise have been a constant support.
Being a senior citizen and lifetime music lover of all sorts especially classical guitar, I am still fulfilling ambitions even in retirement having recently passed Trinity College Grade 7. Hans has been of immense help in teaching and encouraging me to to play guitar more boldly, expressively and with confidence. I am astonished how much improvement there is in my playing in the 18 months he has been teaching me. With his help I look forward to taking Grade 8 classical guitar next year.
Through having lessons with Hans, I have developed the skills necessary to achieve a grade 6 in classical guitar earlier this year. Both my parents and friends agree that my playing has come on leaps and bounds since starting lessons with Hans; he is a brilliant teacher and I would recommend him to anyone interested in learning classical guitar.
I have been learning guitar with Hans for about 18 months. I believe I have learned a great deal from him, while greatly enjoying his lessons. He is a patient and calm teacher. I hope, with some more hard work and lessons, to take my grade five next year. My son has also had lessons with Hans, and his playing has improved a great deal.
When I came to study with Hans, I already possessed a good musical knowledge and some ability on the guitar. Hans was able to very quickly asses my needs and has been tremendous at filling in the gaps in my knowledge and making things fit together like completing a puzzle. Hans is a great guy (but the doesn't like the cold).
Your playing was magnificent , and we hope that we can arrange for another event to showcase your work, with other departments in the College, in the near future. Once again, our thanks for such excellent event and we look forward to working with you again in the future.
Hans was a great teacher and he really helped me by explaining in a way that I always understood. He would always have on a smile that makes you feel more confident and he would happily go over things I didn't understand. I loved when we played duets because I could see the tune better and from then on it was easier to do the piece as I knew the beating. He was and always will be the best guitar teacher I ever had.
