Interview
Which subject(s) do you teach?
I am happy to teach Maths, Physics, Engineering, Electroncis, Statistics, General Science, Biology and Chemistry.
Tell me about your qualifications.
I am currently a PhD student of Bioelectronics at the University of Southampton. I hold an MSc degree in Nanoelectronics and a BEng in Electrical Engineering with Electronics.
What kind of experience do you have?
I have tutored several pupils and university students in private and as groups of 10 or more. I have designed exam papers for maths, physics and electronics.
How much do you charge?
I will not charge my tutees for consultation and planning the schedule of work which would normally be my first session. I will however claim travel fees if the tutee is outside my town of residence, i.e. Southampton. There will be discounts for group lessons and prices are negotiable for students with financial problems.
Where do you teach?
I am most happy for the teaching to take place in my place of work, i.e. University of Southampton. There are group study rooms within the University library that I can book and ideally suit the requirements of a teaching environment.
However, I am flexible with the place of teaching and normally leave it to the convenience of the tutee.
When are you available?
I am available all days including weekends. I would normally prefer the sessions to be held in the afternoon but will be available in am upon earlier arrangement.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
I am happy to teach tutees of age 11 and above, though I have no problem working with those of a younger age. I can teach mathematics, physics, general science, electronics and general engineering up to most advanced level. I am not equally fluent in chemistry and biology; I would therefore hesitate to teach those two at levels higher than GCSE.
Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
No.
Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
I have webcams and microphones both at work and at home. I will be happy to tutor online but personally believe face-to-face tutoring is much more useful for a tutee.
Tell me about some of your current students.
I am currently tutoring an undergraduate student of Computer Science who needs help with his upcoming exams that he will be re-sitting.
Do you have a personal message for students?
I am well-known among my tutees for holding interactive sessions and tailoring the teaching scheme to the capabilities of the very person I am tutoring. I do my best effort to make sure the tutee learns the subject matter in the way that he/she is most comfortable with. I enjoy teaching and my tutees normally find my sessions a relaxed smooth way of learning.
Advice for Those Interested in Electronics
If you're interested in and willing to learn more about this fascinating area of research and technology known as electronics, all you need is an eagerness to learn and a bit of a background in physics and mathematics. I would recommend those with a poor background in either mathematics or...
