I teach Violin, Viola, Piano, Music Theory,Musicianship and Recorder. I also teach Mandarin Chinese and Taiwanese
Tell me about your qualifications.
MMus in Viola Advance Performance (Royal College of Music,London) PgDip in Viola Performance (Royal College of Music,London); MMus in Viola Performance (University of Southampton) and BA in Music (Hons) (TungHai University,Taiwan.)
What kind of experience do you have?
I am a professional viola player. I have been performing in most of the important concert halls in London, such as Royal Albert Hall, Southbank Center and Cadogan Hall.I am also a qualified music teacher. I have been teaching Violin,Viola and Piano in all levels for over 10 years.I used to teach in schools and privately in Taiwan. I have brought kids through their ABRSM exmas with all levels and high marks with Merit or Distinctions. Apart from teaching, I am still performing regularly with several symphony orchestras and chamber groups as a violist. I was also a part-time coaching for a string orchestra and choir conductor.
How much do you charge?
I charge £15/30mins, £30/hour in Viola and Violin £15/30mins, £25/hour in all the others.
Where do you teach?
I am basing in West Central London. Kensington/Chiswick area. I am willing to travel to Central London, West London and South West London. In general, I travel to students' house, but I also teach at home if need.
When are you available?
My schedule is very flexible, please do contact me and I am sure we can schedule the best time for each other.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
From age 5 and all levels from the beginner up to advanced level
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
Most of them are preparing the ABRSM exam for their school applications or GCSE exams.
Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
No, but it is in progress now.
Do you belong to any professional organisations?
I am a regular viola player in London Orion Symphony Orchestra and guest player in Adoramus Chamber Orchestra.
Where and with whom did you train?
I was studied with Jonathan Barritt ( The Viola Principal, English Chamber Orchestra) and Susie Meszaros (Chilingirian Quartet) in Royal College of Music, London. Stephan Wright ( The Viola Principal,Europe Chamber Orchestra) in University of Southampton.
Tell me about some of your current students.
I have some young children learning piano and violin,also a small number of adults learning viola and violin with me. My youngest student is 5 years old and the eldest one is 65 years old. They are from the beginner up to grade 7.
Do you have a personal message for students?
Music is hard but not as hard as you thought. Everyone can be good as long as we enjoy playing music and spend sometime to practice. So don't be afraid picking up any instrument no matter what ages you are. I am sure, it will be a lot of fun to work with you.
