Personal Message
I am a highly experienced and successful singing teacher with students ranging from amateur to professional. I am motivated to get the best results possible from each student.
Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach singing with an emphasis on vocal technique, especially useful with problem voices.
Tell me about your qualifications.
I have an Hon. ARCM, RCO, RCM advanced Opera and am vocal consultant for a major artist agency.
What kind of experience do you have?
Having made my debut as a child in variety, I have gone on to have a varied career in opera, musical theatre, concerts and recitals. I have worked for WNO, The D'Oyly Carte Opera Company, EFO and am currently on the rosta of Opera della Luna.I have also appeared in major musical shows, Phantom, Cats, Evita Chess, Hello Dolly and many galas and concerts here and around the world. I am one of the worlds leading performing authorities on light opera, and have been teaching singing for a quarter of a century. Most of my students go on to have successful careers as professional artists.
How much do you charge?
I charge £50.00 per hour which would also include travel to and from my residence. My teaching is intensive and on a one to one basis. Lessons booked in advance as a block booking will receive a ten per cent discount.
Where do you teach?
I teach from home and also willing to travel to student houses within the South East London and West Kent areas.
When are you available?
I am still a busy working singer, so divide my time between my own personal work and my teaching commitments.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach absolute beginners to professionals. I do not teach juniors and my ideal age for teaching is 16+ in both male and female.
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
All examination boards such as Guildhall/Trinity, Associated Board. I also prepare students for major auditions to drama schools, music colleges, opera companies and musical theatre shows.
Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
I do not at the present time as it is not required for my level of teaching.
Where and with whom did you train?
Initially I trained with Madame Laura Harding of Penge who prepared me for entrance to the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, and then transferred to the Royal College of Music Opera School and as a Post Graduate.
Tell me about some of your current students.
I currently teach in a new Drama College in Croydon with a range of students aged 18 - 20 with varying degrees of musical and vocal ability. I also teach a number of city businessmen who sing in choirs, and also deal with my agent's clients often working on poor or damaged techniques.
Do you have a personal message for students?
My aim is to make singing fun, enjoyable and uplifting and to produce the most glorious sounds you may (or may not!) have imagined possible.
