I'm an enthusiastic music graduate with experience in teaching all ages in academic, instrumental and vocal tuition. Please don't hesitate to get in touch if you wish to negotiate lessons!
Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach classical piano and singing up to Grade 8, and am happy to help students prepare for music theory exams. I also offer Music A-level and degree-level tuition.
Tell me about your qualifications.
I graduated from Emmanuel College, Cambridge with a degree in Music in 2008. In 2009 I completed a Master's degree in Musicology at Royal Holloway, University of London, with a Distinction. From September 2012 I will be studying for a Postgraduate Diploma in Singing at the RWCMD.
What kind of experience do you have?
I have experience in academic, instrumental and vocal tuition. As a pianist, I have experience playing as an accompanist, soloist and in chamber groups. From a young age I was exposed to the world of classical singing, and as a treble I was lucky enough to appear as a soloist at the Royal Opera House, as well as performing at many other prestigious venues. While at university, I sung with and directed a number of choirs. I currently sing with several professional ensembles based in London, and have appeared in a number of professional opera productions in and around London.
How much do you charge?
I charge between £25 and £30 per hour, depending on subject (plus up to £5 for travel). I'm willing to negotiate discounts for teaching more than one student at the same time or under the same roof.
Where do you teach?
I am happy to travel to students' homes in London Zones 1-3.
When are you available?
I am fairly flexible and happy to teach most days, including weekends and weekday evenings.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach all ages at the levels outlined above.
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I'm happy to help students through Grade examinations (Associated Board or otherwise). I'm equally happy to teach those who simply want to learn casually without taking exams.
Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
I have a fully up-to-date CRB disclosure certificate.
Where and with whom did you train?
I currently study singing with Jeff Stewart at the Royal College of Music. In the past I have studied with Matthew Schellhorn (piano) and Sue Waters (singing).
