Interview:
Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach French (A-level and GCSE) and English(EFL). I am also willing to teach anyone who just generally wants to 'brush up' on their French.
How much do you charge?
I charge £17 per hour; however, for the student's first hour of tutoring, I only charge £10.
Where do you teach?
I can travel by car to the student's home. However, should they wish, I can also conduct lessons from my own home - whichever way suits the student suits me! I live in Fallowfield, South Manchester, but I am willing to travel to anywhere within the city itself or the surrounding area i.e. Stockport, Stretford, Urmston, Salford, Prestwich etc. Tutoring via MSN is also an option.
When are you available?
Anytime! Ring me and we'll discuss.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
I can tutor students at either GCSE or A-level. I am also willing to help anyone of any age brush up on their French skills, be it language, oral or grammar. I also teach anyone of any age learning English as a foreign language.
Do you have a CRB disclosure certificate?
No.
Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
I can tutor online, via MSN.
Tell me about your qualifications.
At GCSE, I gained 8 A's, 1 B and 2 C's (grade A in French)
At A-level, I gained an A in Maths, A in Physics and B in French.
Where and with whom did you train?
I am just about to start work as an ELA (English Language Assistant) to gain some more experience in teaching. This will be a 7 month placement and is part of my degree course.
What kind of experience do you have?
In the first year of my degree course, I frequently met up with a French native speaker to 'swap languages' (organised through Manchester University's 'Face-2-Face' service). We would meet a couple of times a week to tutor each other in our respective native languages and I found the experience invaluable in not only giving me some good teaching practice, but also improving my fluency in French.
Tell me about some of your current students.
I am currently tutoring a student online via MSN. He's fitting 2 years of GCSE French into one year at Year 9, so it should be a challenge but I'm confident he'll pass with flying colours!
Do you have a personal message for students?
Being a student myself at the University of Manchester (studying French and Linguistics), I fully understand today's demands on language students. I take my degree seriously and I teach enthusiastically. I think that a lot of people these days forget how important it actually is to learn a foreign language. Showing that you have bilingual skills looks good to both employers and potential universities alike as these skills are transferable to all jobs and academic subject areas. I think that the more languages you have under your belt, the more the world opens up to you.
So, if you're a parent or student reading this and you find my profile at least partly interesting, please do not hesitate to pick up the phone and give me a ring any time!
