Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach English , but also Latin and RE at GCSE.

Tell me about your qualifications.
I have an Upper II BA Hons in English and Latin from London University (1972). I also have a PGCE, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Theology.

What kind of experience do you have?
I taught for 33 years in Norfolk and was a Deputy Head for 13 years. I have been tutoring at home for 9 years.

How much do you charge?
My charges are £20 per hour for Ks 2 and 3, or £25 for GCSE and £30 for AS and A2 level.

Where do you teach?
I teach in my own home,

When are you available?
I am available any day during the week and some Saturdays. I do not go away in school holidays and am glad to give extra lessons. However, I take occasional holidays in term time. I can be very flexible and change arrangements to suit your needs.

Which ages and levels do you teach?
GCSE to A level in English and GCSE Latin and RE.I do not teach mature students or groups.

Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
I have an up-to-date enhanced CRB certificate.

Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
I can be available to tutor online if you make an appointment or ring me to give me warning. I have completed an online facilitation course and I am to teach you in this way.

Do you belong to any professional organisations?
I belong to the National Association of Headteachers.

Where and with whom did you train?
Bedford College,London University, (now RHNBC) and PGCE at Southlands College of Education. Theological training was done with Anglia Ruskin.

Tell me about some of your current students.
Usually my students improve by one two grades after coming to me.It depends how long we have. Obviously, if I teach someone for a year I can do much more than in a few weeks before exams.Contacting me a few weeks before the exams is not usually realistic.

Do you have a personal message for students?
I am a dinosaur. I am a text based teacher and I use old fashioned methods. I can help you and will do my best to find the areas where you need most support. If your problem is a lack of confidence, I can help to build it.You should believe in yourself and your abilities. If you are willing to put in the time to work, I can help you to improve.
I spend the majority of my time studying the text with students, helping them to understand it at a deeper level. I also help with revision and exam technique.
