- I am a very dedicated teacher who pushes „victims“ hard! You will have a struggle and then rewards. Fun comes last but comes for sure!
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
- Russian & Czech languages and literature
(for Russian GCSE purposes I can prepare for Pushkin "The Queen of Spades" and Gogol "The Government Inspector" in detail; reading, translation, analyse, topics) - Tell me about your qualifications.
- I have PhD in didactics of Russian from Charles University in Prague (1986). C1 Proficiency in Russian from The Pushkin Institute in Moscow (2010).
- What kind of experience do you have?
- I have more then 20 years experience in practical teaching (!) and various levels and nationalities, too! I have also worked for years as a guide and interpreter for tourist and also as an interpretor for Immigration services in the UK. In both languages.
- How much do you charge?
- I charge £20 one-to-one session 60 minutes. I would charge £30 for two-to-one and two would share the cost. £32 for three and three would share the cost. I would accept groups up to 6 people in my home.
I would charge for travelling time & fuel that, of course, would depend on area. I would not like to travel anywhere further then 1 hour from my area code; based on £10 per 1 hour of driving. - Where do you teach?
- I prefer to teach at my place. If I have to travel I would charge for travelling time & fuel that, of course, would depend on area. I would not like to travel anywhere further then 1 hour from my area code; based on £10 per 1 hour of driving.
My area code is BN2 Saltdean in East Sussex and my nearest town is Brighton and Hove. I can help students from Brighton and Sussex University and local colleges. - When are you available?
- I am very flexible. Any meeting can be discussed and arranged and regular continuation reassured. I have some courses commitments and these are the only times I cannot offer. At the very moment it is MO and TH but this can alter the next term. TU, WED, FRI I am fully flexible and I also can teach on Saturdays.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
- I have been trained by Charles University to teach adults and students (age 17+). I have been teaching in England for 16 years and I have taought chiefly Adult Courses, Open Courses , Undergraduate students at US and some PhD students. Mainly UK nationals but some other nationalities as well. I have prepared 3 classes of Russian students for A2 Edexcel exam in Russian.
To teach some younger group can be discussed. - Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
- I have prepared students for each half and end of year exam at university and for final exam at university (Russian). I have also prepared 3 s]classes of Russian pupils for A2 Edexcel exam Russian. I have also prepared about 4 classes of the English Adults for GCSE, AS and A2 Russian.
I have prepared a future vice consul in the Czech republic for his mission.
I have also prepared an university senior lecturer for his work on Polisensky (great Czech historian).
I can prepare for the exam re Czech citizenship. - Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
- No, as I have not taught young children or vulnerable adults for some years.
The last time I had this certificate when I taught at Lancing College (about 5 years ago).
I also filled this certificate when I used to work for Immigration Authorities as an Interpretor. I am sure this can be dealt with if requested. - Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
- I would prefer to avoid teaching online as I do not believe this is a good way forward when it comes to languages. However, I can advise on links and useful sources and I can also set and check HW via e-mail. I can discuss issues via Skype.
- Do you belong to any professional organisations?
- Russian teachers group in UK. Sussex Russian Society. Institute of Learning. U3A.
