Personal Message
I am a freelance Translator/Linguist who is keen on sharing her knowledge of and passion for language with others.
Which subject(s) do you teach?
A-Level: English Language, English Literature, Spanish, Geography, French
Other qualifications: FCE, ESOL
Tell me about your qualifications.
I currently hold a BA in Hispanic Studies with Linguistics (Upper Second Class Honours) from Kings College London and am planning to embark on an MSc course in September 2012. My non-University qualifications include BSL Level 1 (now completing Level 2) and a TEFL Certification.
What kind of experience do you have?
I have experience in teaching ESOL to children aged 11-15 as well as adults. So far, I have taught students of all levels and various backgrounds.
How much do you charge?
The hourly rate varies according to the subject that you pick from my subject list. I offer free level testing (the first lesson) in order to decide with the student what kind of assistance the student needs. I charge five pounds extra if I'm travelling to the student's house (this does not apply to SW). In case you want a semi-private lesson (2-4 students) each student gets a five pound discount.
Where do you teach?
I can tutor both at home and students homes. I can also meet a student in a public library or even a quite cafe (for spoken practice only) if that's what the student finds comfortable and convenient. I live in south-west London.
When are you available?
I am available every work day from 9-5 daytime, Friday evenings and Saturday mornings.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
I can teach anyone up to GCSE and A-level standard aged 11-18. I can also teach over 18s who want to learn a language for a purpose other than an academic qualification. Students with dyslexia, speech/hearing impediments as well as those needing tuition in a different language are more than welcome! (I can tutor in Croatian, French, Lip speak, Serbian or Spanish if necessary).
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
GCSE, A-Level, FCE, ESOL.
Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
Yes. I am fully CRB checked with an Enhanced Disclosure form.
Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
My availability is the same as for offline classes. I can use both Skype and e-mail depending on the kind of assistance the student requires.
Do you belong to any professional organisations?
Yes. I belong to iPSiT, LAGB and the American Linguist Society.
Do you have a personal message for students?
Feel free to contact me for any kind of language adventure you may want to go on!
