- Personal Message
- I am a professional, friendly and caring private tutor with a passion for developing children's confidence and skills in Primary Maths and English.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
- Both Maths and English tutoring are available. Sessions aim to develop pupils' skills and confidence, proving that these subjects need not feel scary or overwhelming. As well as supporting less confident individuals, I also have experience in boosting students' knowledge/skills to higher levels for SATs tests. With fun, patience and encouragement, my tutees thrive on engaging, curriculum-based activities tailored to their individual needs.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
- I have a BSc (Hons.) in Psychology and a P.G.C.E in Primary Education, followed by 7 years of teaching experience, in many forms.
- What kind of experience do you have?
- I have had over 7 years teaching experience as a class teacher, KS1 and 2 SATs booster teacher and tutor in schools. I have had proven success in raising achievement and, most importantly, increasing the confidence of the children I have been lucky enough to teach.
- How much do you charge?
- Sessions are charged at £15 for half an hour, £20 for 45 minutes, or £25 for a full hour of tuition.
- Where do you teach?
- Where possible, I aim to offer the choice for pupils to either travel to my home in Shoreham-by-Sea, West Sussex, or opt for the sessions to take place in the pupils own, familiar, family home. I am happy to travel to surrounding towns, including Worthing (and surrounding areas), Steyning, Storrington, Hove and Brighton, among others. This second option may involve a small petrol charge.
- When are you available?
- Sessions are available from 3:30 to 7pm between Monday and Friday during term time. Saturday slots may be available on request. A wider choice of time slots are available for sessions during holidays.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
- I am qualified to teach children between the ages of 5 and 11 years and have had much experience of teaching Year 2 and Key Stage 2 in particular. As there is a great overlap between skills in Year 6 and Year 7, I have helped many KS3 secondary school pupils also.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
- Key Stage 2 SATs tests.
- Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
- I have an up to date CRB certificate, carried out by a school I have recently worked in.
- Where and with whom did you train?
- My teacher training was undertaken at Brighton University and I have since gained experience at schools in Worthing and Horsham.

The Confidence Spiral
If we take a moment, most of us will be able to think of an activity or subject that we feel confident performing or learning. Perhaps we have a natural aptitude for it, or through helpful steps or guidance, we were able to practise and improve; a positive confidence spiral towards accomplishment. On the reverse side however, we may have taken...
