I'm a friendly and enthusiastic piano teacher based in Manchester with several years of experience teaching students of all ages and abilities.

Interview

Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach classical piano and theory

Tell me about your qualifications.
I graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester with a BMus (Hons) in 2008 and went on to study postgraduate accompaniment at the Rotal Academy of Music.

What kind of experience do you have?
I have been teaching the piano to pupils of all ages and abilities for several years and teach beginners and students who just want to learn for fun as well as those who wish to prepare for exams, competitions and performances. For students who want to prepare for exams I teach to the ABRSM syllabus and my students have a 100% ABRSM pass rate. In addition to private teaching, I also teach in schools around the Manchester area. I have been involved in many outreach projects which aim to introduce children to music and the piano and have experience of many different ways of learning such as Kodaly and Dalcroze Eurythmics.

As a solo pianist and chamber musician I have performed in venues such as the Queen Elizabeth Hall and King’s Place in London, the Richard Attenborough Centre in Leicester and Elgin Town Hall in Moray, Scotland, and have been awarded first prizes in music festivals throughout the UK. I was also a regional finalist in the BBC Young Musician of the Year, and recently performed on the soundtrack for the upcoming film ‘Tortoise in Love’. As a solo pianist, I have participated in masterclasses with pianists such as Yonty Solomon, Angela Brownridge and Carole Presland. With my duo partners I have performed in masterclasses with Ian Brown, Ralph Kirshbaum, Julius Drake and Liwei Qin.

I studied piano with John Gough at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester and accompaniment with Andrew West at the Royal Academy of Music in London.

How much do you charge?
For lessons at my home I charge: £25 per hour, £20 for 45 minutes or £15 for 30 minutes.

Where do you teach?
I usually teach at my home in Sale which is close to Sale tram station with links to Altrincham, Timperley and Manchester city centre. I can also travel to students in the South Manchester area if necessary, please contact me for details.

When are you available?
I am available most weekdays and weekends during term time and school holidays. My schedule is quite flexible and so I'm usually able to teach at a time that suits the student - please contact me for details.

Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach students of all ages and abilities, from beginners (young or adult) to advanced.

Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I teach to the ABRSM syllabus (grades 1-8 and diploma) and my students have a 100% pass rate in ABRSM exams.

Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
Yes.

Do you belong to any professional organisations?
