About Keith

- What kind of experience do you have?

I have been teaching English, Spanish and French classes for the past 3 years, in one-to-one tutorials, small groups and larger classes. My students are from all of the world, of all ages and range from absolute beginners to advanced learners. Much of my English-language teaching took place in Barcelona, Spain, during and after studying for my CertTESOL qualification. Since then, I have taught English, Spanish and French predominantly to individuals, both face-to-face and online, with the odd class as a relief teacher. I recently completed my City & Guilds qualification to teach languages in the lifelong learning sector.

I also work as a freelance translator, reviser, editor and proofreader, and have translated and edited many texts from my specialist fields of information technology, business and management, and education.

- Do you have a personal message for students?

My tutoring approach:
For me, tutoring is a partnership, a commitment to the learning process shared between the tutor and the learner. A positive, varied and engaging approach from me, the tutor, helps produce a positive, interested and motivated response from you, the learner. Together, we build on this energy, creating the ideal learning environment. To support this, as well as customising my lessons to your individual learning needs, their content will be tailored as much as possible to your personal interests, and to relevant current affairs. In my experience, this helps learners apply their new language skills in practical situations and makes language learning fun! I focus on the communicative approach to language teaching, where you learn through interaction in the target language, using authentic materials and your own personal experiences. This is of course backed up with as much explanation as you need to fully understand the concept being taught. Adaptability is essential to your learning, as we all learn in different ways: some need to understand each language point in detail, others prefer to learn a language more organically. I therefore use a variety of techniques and materials to suit your particular needs. Whatever your level and whatever your reason for learning – pleasure, conversation, business, or exams – I can help you make progress in English, Spanish or French. Additionally, for English, if you already have a good proficiency level, are an ambitious learner and wish to transform your English for particular practical purposes, I can design a programme perfectly suited to your specific needs and aspirations.
