Personal Message
Music has always been a big part of my life and I believe that anybody at any age can benefit from playing music and learning an instrument.
Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach the Clarinet, Saxophone and Flute. Alongside this I offer extra tuition for Theory Grades, GCSE and A Level music.
Tell me about your qualifications.
I completed a four year course at The Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester studying the Clarinet. Following this, I have recently gained a PGCE qualification in Music and Instrumental Teaching.
What kind of experience do you have?
I have just completed a PGCE in music secondary, after spending four years at the Royal Northern College of music studying the Clarinet. Alongside my qualifications, I am currently a woodwind tutor at ‘Yorkshire Young Musicians’ and a Clarinet and Saxophone tutor at Merchant Taylors School in Crosby. For four years I have been a member of ‘The Arion Ensemble’ wind quintet; with this group I have gained experience providing music workshops to schools of all ages and abilities. In addition to teaching, I perform both as a soloist and chamber musician on a regular basis.
How much do you charge?
£20 per hr.
£10 per half hr lesson.
Where do you teach?
I can teach in either the Manchester or Hull area. In Manchester, I prefer to teach at my home in Burnage, there are good rail links close by and parking. I can potentially arrange to come out to pupils depending on distance.
When are you available?
I am fairly flexible and can teach most evenings and during the day on a Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
I can teach pupils of all ages and abilities.
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I prepare students for ABRSM exams, both practical and theory. Alongside this, I am able to give extra tuition at GCSE and A Level music standard
as I have completed a PGCE in classroom teaching.
Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
Yes
Where and with whom did you train?
The Royal Northern College of Music, 2006-2010, where I studied with Nick Cox and Chris Swann.
