Interview

Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach History, English and French up to A-Level, as well as Physics, German and Religious Studies up to GCSE level. I also prepare students for secondary school entrance exams and for university entrance (including Oxbridge).

Tell me about your qualifications.
I have a degree in History from Oxford University, an Advanced Extension Award in French, A-levels in History (A), French (A), German (A) and Physics (A), and 12 GCSEs (all A*). I am currently studying for the Graduate Diploma in Law.

What kind of experience do you have?
I have tutored privately for the last few years, as well as being employed by a grammar school to tutor less confident GCSE candidates in English and History. I have helped a number of students with university entrance, including UCAS forms, personal statements and Oxbridge exam and interview preparation.

How much do you charge?
My standard fee is £25/hour (£30/hour for university entrance coaching). I do not charge for travel in zones 1 & 2. A discount of £5 (or negotiable) is available for more than 1 child.

Where do you teach?
I teach either at student's homes in the South Warwickshire area or, preferably, at my house (in Stratford-upon-Avon). I also tutor students in Oxford.

When are you available?
I am available most evenings (except Wednesdays), most afternoons and weekends.

Which ages and levels do you teach?
All ages up to A-Level (although am also able to teach essay writing skills to university students/adults).

Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
Yes.

Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
Am happy to tutor via e-mail, or via any instant messenger service.

Tell me about some of your current students.
I have recently worked with a dyslexic GCSE English student who was very unconfident but ultimately gained a B-grade (up from a predicted D) and a French GCSE student who wanted extra help in preparation for her oral exam, as well as a range of A-Level and GCSE candidates, preparing for exams and improving essay writing skills.

Do you have a personal message for students?
Education should be an exciting, engaging process, and I hope to instill a desire for learning in students!
