- Yes
- Where and with whom did you train?
- Brunel University, Twickenham
- Tell me about some of your current students.
- They are 6 to 16 years of age. Some have missed stages in the curriculum, due to time off school (abroad, for example) and want to catch up, others struggle with Maths and want to feel more confident and some are naturally good at Maths and want to ensure continuing top grades.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
- Alongside my tutorials, I recommend a little bit of Maths practice, every night or two, in the run-up to exams; also, reading questions two times before answering in order to prevent careless mistakes - this often makes the difference between one grade and another!
My particular strengths are algebra, fractions and graphs, which form the basis of a great deal of Maths, and I believe that I can help anyone to understand them by using the necessary methods. Sometimes, students just need to be taught in a different way, for understanding.
I am also well practiced in taking students to higher levels with worded problem solving, a common theme at 11+ and GCSE, by teaching them to convert words into numbers and symbols.

Exam Success for GCSE/iGCSE
Ideally, learning for understanding is the key to long term retention. However, with less able students, repetition is also the key. A good grasp of algebra is quite important as a fair amount of the work at GCSE/iGCSE has links to it.
